A Note from the Garden Journal Volume 1.7

a weekly weekend event of timely trifles

I have been busying myself, as many, with the holidays and all which goes into this festive time. Such occasions for most of us are ones of the joy in being together, the joy of celebration of our faith and sadness for the empty chairs once occupied by those we wished more than anything could be present as in times past. But also the joy of knowing our faith gives hope for tearful reunions of eternal proportions.

Whether you are celebrating the glorious struggle of the Maccabees, who secured a people’s identity, or the birth of a Messiah, come to secure peace on earth and goodwill toward men, this time of year is a time rich with tradition in which the richness of the grandparents and theirs, is passed down to the children’s children.  This is a time when grandmother’s perfume fills the house and the sound of the doorbell and laughter by so many familiar voices is a repetitious melodious refrain lasting the duration of the entire engagement. A time when women compare their children’s anecdotes and men compare their business conquests…and children compare their toys.  A time in which the family cat cowers in the corner praying not to be found out, and a time in which the family dog prays most earnestly to be found out (and allowed out of the back room) by one of the many little eyes and hands which have come to visit.  (Indeed, this is a religious holiday even for the family pets!) Lastly, this is a time for those visiting from the city, who may have their first opportunity to ride a horse, explore the woods, breathe the fresh air and discover a pace quite unique in its giving breath to a lifestyle of good will and a deep understanding of the way of things and their Creator.

Blogbat hopes this is more than just a memory of childhood for you and yours this year (as such things should not be recounted in great earnest until old age), but that yours will be a holiday of renewed ties, joys and renewed understanding and faith. And of course the ever-deepening knowledge that the Dallas Cowboys have clenched an NFL playoff spot.

  • Awwww, cute ponies in their blankets with snow!  ^^

I hurt my back in a very stupid way, though thankfully it's much MUCH better now.  I was getting out of my jacket inside my car and twisted wrong.   :wtf?:

As far as the guy goes, the whole thing that got me was that he had NEVER stayed in the library for any length of time until last Friday.  That was the first day, and it freaked me out.  But as far as I'm concerned right now, I don't have the time or energy to invest in anything relationship wise, so no worries there.  ^_^

  • Happy holidays, dahling... and I hope they are completely wonderful for you and yours!

  •  :lip_kiss:just wanted to wish you a happy  new year ;)
