    Hallööööööööchen, ihr alle!!!!!!!

Well, Blogbat lives…has been awhile, but he is still rattling around here, researching things of interest for you and keeping both hands on the wheel, as always Blogbat had a fantastic Thanksgiving in Chattanooga…er, Memphis, er…Georgia…(no, wait! Ukraine! Or was that Turkey. It was restful, even in its being busy.

    Off to somewhere avec fam…

I hope yours was just as pleasant. Of interest to you also is that he has learned some shocking things about the state of electronic security in several companies (some already profiled here at this site, but also for certain governments (U.S. excluded naturally—that would be uncool).

What do you guys think about the Dru Sjodin case? Do you think this guy did it? And what do you think of the fact that Mr. Alfonso Rodriguez Jr. was released from prison, despite the overwhelming evidence he was likely to commit a violent crime again? The self-same evidence the system cited upon his release, placing him on the “high-risk” list. Is there a liability here for knowingly placing a “high-risk” convict back on the streets. If I were the Sjodin family, I would be discussing this with the family attorney right about now.

China and Taiwan are in the news again. Or was that Whitney Houston and what’s-his-name? Anyway, some big guy is slapping his girlfriend around again and it’s all in the news. The Bush administration is walking a delicate tightrope knowing that the timing of a war with China at this exact moment would ruin the holidays…not to mention that a nuke on LA might prevent another timely remake of Miracle on 34th Street.

Holiday Censorship reaches another high this year, while perverts still run amuck. One school is doing a holiday musical presentation with its second grade class. The Christmas song however has had the word “Christmas” replaced with “Holiday”. One could almost naturally bend over backward enough to accept this degree of intolerance and censorship, except for songs on their list for other holidays such as Chanukah and I would imagine Ramadan in which the references to the holidays were left completely untouched. Blogbat would be upset regardless of the religion that ended up getting the scissors to it. This is America…so how can we celebrate true diversity if we do not allow each to represent themselves as they would like to be represented. “Merry Holiday” is tantamount to the old practice of “blackface”. Blogbat finds it funny that while taking notice of the 2% of intolerant who feign offense (or because they have chips on their shoulders) by someone else’s expression of their beliefs during a holiday that’s all about said beliefs (we aren’t counting the 6% who don’t care or didn’t know either way) no notice is given by the self-same crusaders of “free speech” at the 92% (Jew, Muslim and Christian practitioners). That is, no attention or “sensitivity” whatsoever is given to those offended by the direct actions which deride and stifle a genuine and harmless (and truly, more widely culterally enriching) expression of a way of life and dearly-held set of beliefs.

And in that vein, I sort of found it ironic how it is constantly pushed on all of us that to prevent a library from allowing 7 year olds to view pornography is considered “censorship” instead of being considered a matter of “sensitivity” to the children and families who would object or be hurt by it. Again, juxtapose this to the stance of preventing the same children from singing about their religious beliefs (from which they learn how to be compassionate, civil, decent human beings who have meaning in their lives). The issue is canned by the enemies of our children as “sensitivity” to people who don’t like views other than theirs being in the public and not seen as “censorship”, where in reality, just the opposite is true.

So maybe instead of thinking this Christmas and Chanukah about how annoying it is that the real haters are attempting to remove Santas and Dreidels from public life, maybe it’s time to take to the offense and ask, “why the heck are we allowing profane garbage to be poured out on our children day and night via the internet and television?” While certainly what you do with another adult is your own business, we still need a society that is conscious of little eyes and seeks to protect them. And it takes a village to accomplish this (sorry, props here to Hil…at least for the phrase). As such being the case, I strongly recommend the next time some moron tells you it’s the family’s job to take food off the table and get a V-chip so they can watch the weather without seeing it done by the naked weathergirl, tell them they are an insensitive jerk that also needs a civics lesson. Then walk away humming a few of your favorite holiday tunes.
